Beauty?

As years go by, the standard of beauty is different. I am at fault for being shallow and I take full responsibilities for that, but should I?

With the media being heavily weighed with super attractive people and the only perfect personalities, then we are somewhat forced to believe, that, this is beauty.

Of course, there's such a thing as a natural beauty. No doubts. If the rumors are fake, then Yoona (SNSD) is the perfect human girl. Skinny, decent height, flawless skin, long hair, thin thighs, smart, talented, famous, popular with men and woman, and funny. Pretty much that's what everyone would want in a girl (correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe in universal beauty)

not really his best pic...but it proves my point in a way

Now, when it comes to men, it seems we're even more shallow (for some reason). We expect our men to have muscles, be taller, romantic, and head over heels for us (regardless). So unrealistic, but that's what we are taught. Even Disney put out the heroic character in our head's. Lee Joon is a great example (mostly because he didn't get any surgery done). He works out, so he obviously has abs (pic of him above), he has this amazing smile, and he's so sweet/kind. WOW...prefect ain't he (plus he's tall!).

With over 2 billion being sold in cosmetics alone, we only wonder why we are shallow. I hate the fact that our beauty is artificial but then again, I would so go for Lee Joon or Siwon, no matter what. Of course we're all hypocrites, but I think that if we knew what the future would hold, we wouldn't be working out for 3 hours a day and starving our-selves. Well we obviously can't use the hind-sight bias that easily...that would be too ironic and too easy for us humans.

There's nothing wrong with looking like a doll. There's something wrong with thinking it could last forever. This isn't a fairy-tale, life has an ending. And we'll never know when the ending will happen. I have always wanted surgery for myself (plastic surgery). My reasoning...because I wish I was perfect. Looking like a doll could give me that accomplishment. See, that's wrong, but it's not like I won't do it either way. I know that looks don't last but what every happen to enjoying your youth while it lasts. Proverbs are meant to be hypocritical and we will probably never know why we have them, but they really help; well for those who understand proverbs.

I can't stop you from having procedure's done to yourself, but try to educate yourself in what real beauty is. Men and woman both go into surgery everyday and you wanna know why no one stops them from doing such unrealistic/un-human changes because we are taught that being perfect will guarantee love. Marketing again always plays a huge role.
Just look at all the K-pop idols...90% have gotten their eye's done (double eye-lid surgery). It's a normal procedure...wait? what! It's a normal procedure...did anyone else think that sentence is wrong. It's not, sadly. That is the most common surgery done in Asia (kind of like breast surgery in North America).
I can't tell that you've made the right decision, nor can I convince myself from not going under; but to educate is to learn, to learn is to teach. Maybe one day, this info will come in handy for you.Who knows. I just hope that no one will justify their beauty standard with an idol or celebrity (as I have).
