Do You Think You Got it?

CN Blue

Miss A

SNSD

Whether it takes you 15 days to win a award or 2 years. An award is just an award. People tend to forget that South Korea has 4 music programs which an artist can win on. Mnet, Music Bank, Music on Top, and Inkigayo. Yes, it's such an honor to win an award, but what happens if you only win one? Teen Top recently won an award on Music Bank. A-Pink won an award this year as well. So far it's their only award.
Teen Top
As fans, we always try to help and support the K-pop groups to become #1 on those music programs. But does it matter about talent, personality or even looks anymore? Is it just popularity? You have to admit, when any big groups have their comebacks everyone knows their gonna win because their fan base is enormous. SNSD or Super Junior are really good examples. A lot of Music companies held back their own groups comebacks or debut's because they themselves even know they had no chance.
Not to say that group won't be charting at all, but just know, no matter how talented that group is no one seems to be able to compare to the likes of SNSD and groups that have the similar large fan-base.

With Hallyu wave being so extensive at the moment, I can only wonder what other groups will be popular? Does wining an award in Korea signify your popular already? So many questions. Then we see groups like KARA, who are super popular in Japan and Korea. But they've won awards in Korea as well...

KARA

What does it take? Some may ask

I truly think it takes talent and popularity. Not to say Super Junior or SNSD had any talent when they debuted, but they do now. Yet we see so many new idols coming in with already amazing vocals that surpass SNSD and Super Junior. So why aren't they winning awards like crazy...it's all because of marketing. When you shop in the right places, you see the right things. SNSD was marketed so well after "Gee" became popular that SNSD was named national girl group of South Korea.
In Japan, if you shop in the right places, you'll see KARA more then SNSD.

What I think the most disturbing out of all this, is the destruction of other idols...In Japan. You don't see Japanese idols trying to come and win awards in Korea (not that they ever will. Japan has the 2nd largest music industry in the world, behind U.S.A). I hate that K-pop idols are overturining what J-pop is.
KARA was at Kohaku...the best of the best only get accepted...AKB48, ARASHI, Koda Kumi, etc.

AKB48; "Flying Get"
The music world is corrupted and one can only hope that talent will get recognized and the truth is always told. But does anyone think the truth can be told...lets be honest AKB48 always lip-syncs...we know it.
And we all know SNSD aren't really that talented, but we enjoy them as people (kind of like AKB48).

Corruption is normal and I think we just accept it the way it is now. Whether we want a group to be #1 that week or not will determine on popularity and song. Miss A and CN Blue did win with their debut singles, but I think that their songs were so unique and different in the k-pop world that it captured everyone's attention.I actually don't like Miss A at the moment. Their latest single "Goodbye Baby" was such a normal manufactured k-pop song that it kind of disgusted me. "Good Girl Bad Girl" had meaning, it had something that made Miss A who they were, now they're just like any other k-pop group. CN Blue, now that's a group that didn't lose it's roots. They stuck to their rocker style and songs (but I do think they advanced to the J-pop world too soon). Ever since they've debuted, these two groups, they're popularity has only risen.

As I mentioned it like 100 times here, popularity wins it all. Charts are made by sale's or voting. If the song and group are popular, they will win, regardless. But when it's a mega group...the question will lead to our conscious and we'll see how that goes.
